Advocacy & Ethics

The TACAC Advocacy and Ethics Committee is TACAC's newest committee, merging the best of the Admission Practices Committee and the Government Relations Committee. The Advocacy and Ethics Committee exists to educate members on NACAC's Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission as well as keep membership informed of policies that affect our jobs as educators. We strive to ensure that higher education is available to all students and that policies and practices remain student-centered.

How do we do this?

  • We work with government officials in Austin and Washington D.C., as well as allied organizations, to closely monitor state and federal policy proposals.
  • We serve as experts to legislative bodies and propose legislation that will impact our communities.
  • We provide professional development on NACAC's Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission. Use THIS link to request a presentation from a member of our committee that includes a history of the guide along with interactive slides where your team can dig into real-life examples of ethical dilemmas in college admission.
  • We provide an avenue for members to ask questions about NACAC's recommended ethical practice or provide suggested revisions to the guide via THIS form.
