The belt, a gift for a year of hard work, camaraderie, and more hard work, was presented to Saloma during the passing of the gavel.
“I’m not going to cry because it’s over,” Saloma said, passing the gavel to new President Micah Lyles. “I’m going to smile because it happened.”

Secondary Counselor & College Advisors Middle Management Institute 2019 Houston Baptist University
The Texas Association for College Admissions Counseling (TACAC) hosts a number of professional development opportunities throughout the year. One of the most successful and popular is the Middle Management Institute, or MMI. The TACAC Middle Management Institute (MMI) has traditionally been a professional development program designed for both current and aspiring managers working on the post-secondary side of our profession; January 2019 will see the program expand to include secondary counselors and college advisors. We believe that there is much the organization can provide in the way of professional development in a collaborative environment that will continue to feed into the work that college counseling professionals so richly engage in on a daily basis. Participants of TACAC’s Inaugural Secondary Middle Management Institute can expect a rigorous curriculum built around dynamic educational sessions and collaborative learning experiences.

So many of us in this profession can remember our first days as a college admission counselor, or as a high school counselor. Were you nervous to speak in front of others? Did you look at a high school calendar, and think - how do I plan events for parents and students? Did you go to your first college fair and look around, thinking, "how do so many of these college reps know each other?"
It’s that time of the year again, colleagues: The time of Starbucks, late nights and jam-packed schedules. It’s travel season, and with the first TACRAO week just around the corner, it’s time to prepare to meet new students, new counselors and new friends.
We’ll all be on the go this fall, whether we’re hitting the road or not. But that won’t stop us from making this season memorable. We’ve created a special sign to help you do just that.
Dear TACAC Family,
On behalf of the TACAC Executive Board, I want to welcome you to the new school year. It is an exciting time to be part of the TACAC Family. Over the past several months, we have been working hard to make 2018-2019 the best year ever.
